Review: Nekrogoblikon - STENCH
It has been a while since I purchased a CD from a band that I’d only heard about a minute of one song and knew it would be good. Their second full-length album, STENCH, has got to be one of the best new albums I’ve heard this year. This is the best comparison I could come up with: take the brutality and comedy of Dethklok, mix it with a gothic death dash of Cradle of Filth, spice it up with some folk metal like Eluveitie, then add in some quirkiness in the vein of Dog Fashion Disco. Oh, and since it’s goblin metal, pretty much all the songs deal with goblins or themes in the fantasy realm. There are even samples from a classic movies dealing with goblins (I’ll leave that gem hidden for now). It’s heavy, it’s bizarre, it’s funny and fun, and I can’t stop listening to it. Buy this album…now!
