Review: Jasta - Jasta
‘Jasta’ is the solo release from Jamey Jasta, lead singer of Hatebreed and Kingdom of Sorrow. From interviews, he said these songs would not fit on either of his band’s formats so he wanted to release them under his name. I would have to agree with his own assessment. The songs on this record have elements of both bands in some aspects, but not enough to completely fit. The stand out parts of this album to me are all the guest appearances: Randy Blythe and Mark Morton from Lamb of God, Tim Lambesis from As I Lay Dying, Phil Labonte from All That Remains, Mike Vallely from Revolution Mother, and Zakk Wylde. Each of these musicians brings their own style into the songs, which really changes up what you are normally used to getting from Jamey Jasta. This album isn’t going to change the face of music by any means, but it’s a welcome change and an enjoyable listen.
